What is The Book Fountain?

The Book Fountain is an English language book library at your fingertips. Our start-up collection contains over 2000 titles covering a wide range of topics. We have the latest adult fiction including the most recent from Dan Brown, James Patterson, Janet Evanovich, as well as classic children’s titles such as Peter Pan, The Chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter. Books are being continually added to our collection and from October 1^st, you will also be able to borrow audio books in CD format. Perfect for those frequent school runs!

 

Who is it run by?

The Book Fountain is run by me, Alex Laurie. I am originally from Cambridge, England and have lived in France for the last 11 years. The first 8 years of my French life were spent in Paris where I worked for a couple of marketing & communications agency, before my partner Olivier and I decided to move to the countryside to ‘grow’ our family.  The Book Fountain was originally Olivier’s idea based on the fact that we had paid our movers a hefty sum to transfer hundreds of books that I head read once but had no intention of reading again and were taking up valuable storage space… Sound familiar!?

 

How does it work?

For a flat yearly fee for the whole family, you can choose books from our start-up collection of over 2000 modern fiction titles and we’ll send them to you by post. Once you’ve read your book, you can return it to us in the pre-paid envelope. It’s as simple as that. As soon as we receive it, you’ll receive an email inviting you to choose another book.

 

How does this compare to other services?

Besides the fact that this is the ONLY book rental & delivery service around, you might be interested to know that :

-         The Book Fountain is open 7 days a week, 24 hrs a day

-         We don’t shut for lunch

-         We don’t shut on Sundays

-         There’s no hideous car-parking to tend with

-         There’s no bribing the children to keep quiet whilst the librarian gives you a disapproving look

-         We don’t ask you to return your books by a certain date

 

How much does it cost ?

Just 96€ a year. That’s it. There are no hidden costs. You can order up to 2 books at a time, as many times as you like*. If you have any suggestions regarding which books you’d like to see added to our collection, just let us know!

 

What are the Book-Foutnain workshops all about ?

There will be casual get-togethers where we can try out book subjects (I’m talking “learning to play poker”, not Kama Sutra!). These will be held at our headquarters or at other members’ homes.  If you have any topic suggestions, again, please let us know.

 

How can I join ?
